Link: Kids' "Create your future" website.
A website by Japan for Sustainability to "encourage children all over the world to take an interest in environmental issues, think about what they can do to help, and put their ideas into action."
The site includes a number of short articles grouped into three areas:
- New Ideas for the Earth (new approaches)
- Today's Earth, Our Future (articles on resources and natural systems)
- The Story of a Mysterious Land (evolving comic strip about a possible future)
The articles are well written, with examples of sustainable initiatives by companies and individuals. A number of articles have a biomimetic slant. For example, "A Win-Win Solution for All" describes Interface Carpet's move from a company that sells carpets to one that "provides carpets that create a comfortable and at-home atmosphere" - a service-based approach. "How We Learn from Nature" uses Velcro and mussel glue to explain the value of learning from nature.
The site is set up to collect feedback from viewers, but does not appear to make this feedback available to others. It would be fascinating to read the perspective of children on the articles.
This is awesome!
